Tarot cards are widely thought to be a tool of telling the future, but there’s actually something very different going on. The tarot cards actually help the reader use intuition to guide an understanding of the choices that have been made to date. It is the choices that have been made to date that determine what is most likely to happen, but you always have the choice to do something different, which means your “future” is always in your hands.
A Spider’s Web
Each choice that you make, each thought that you have, and each attitude that you carry is like a step upon a spider’s web that causes ripples of movement through the various threads. Those ripples touch other threads, causing them to move, which then causes movement in still other threads. Lives interact with each other in much the same way. Each time you cause movement there is a reaction, a consequence. Those consequences build up into events which have even more consequences. Every choice you make today builds your tomorrow. This is actually an ancient concept. The Norse called it “wyrd,” or Destiny. The meaning was not of a person caught by the hands of a Fate that dictated everything for them, but of a person who created a destiny through every day actions.
The Outcome Card
If you don’t like the card that comes up as the “outcome” card in your reading then you must do what you can to change your attitudes, behaviors, and choices. That is why every tarot reading and most other forms of divinatory reading pay as much attention to your past as they do to your future. They also often pay attention to the strengths that you bring to the table, the attitudes or preoccupations of your thoughts, and the people around you who might reach out and help you if only they are asked. If you don’t like the outcome card ask your psychic to take you back over some of the other cards in your spread so that you can get some insight on how to make a change. The outcome card can be seen as a warning. If you get a good outcome card don’t rest on your laurels yet. You need to keep doing what you’ve been doing so that you can enjoy the good things to come.
Bad Cards in General
Some of the cards in a tarot deck seem overwhelmingly negative. “The Devil” speaks of uncontrolled addictions and dark situations. “The Tower” speaks of everything falling apart around you no matter what you try. These aren’t happy cards! However, you must remember that life is a story built of struggle. When you see negative cards the proper response is to think how you will get through these situations and what you will learn from them. You have everything you need to get out of the other side and to become a better, stronger person for it. Your future is ultimately in your own hands.
